Yeah, would really be good to have everyone at Thursday's meeting!
I know there's a list on here of the roles attributed to each person, but I think adding a few bullet points detailing them further would definitely help for clarity.

Melissa- I'm totally impressed! I especially like the 'Flux' font. It looks awesome. Bravo! Is it possible to have an online shop on this website, like through the site you used to make it (you may have said this already but I'm a bit confused on this thread lol)? I think it would be important to have one, again I know someone who can do that even if its just to show us how to add one on to our existing site, if thats possible... I'm an absolute idiot when it comes to website-y things! But anyway, I really like your template, I'd be happy having a website layed out like that! When it comes to the website the only requests I would have would be an online shop, and to have it pretty easy to navigate. Ideally, in headings along the top I'd like links to Fiction, Poetry and Non-Fiction. Like in the journal I keep banging on about, Paper Darts. (paperdarts.org) Ideally, I would love it to be as beautiful and arty as paper darts, too. But that's a bit out of reach I think, just slightly.... lol. xx

Wow, Gemma, Paper Darts' website does look pretty amazing! I'm sure we'll be able to come up with something great, even on a budget. And yeah, role clarification is on the agenda for Thursday, as well as deciding responsibilities within each role!

Thanks Yeah I'm pretty sure you can get an online shop, and you can also add a blog into the website which most people seemed to be quite keen about in the class today. This was just a basic template to show the kind of thing you can do with this site, it's not a set-in-stone site. I do like how it looks quite professional though. We can talk about it on Thursday to clarify who is going to be involved in the making of the website. I think Michelle put quite good language about it by saying the design team should be involved in actually designing the website (as it needs to complement the print journal if it's to act as a 'portal'), and the marketing team should be involved in maintaining it. So it's probably useful to think of it as a collaboration, rather than it belonging to one group.

Definitely agree about it being between Design and Marketing. Also would be cool group wise if everyone could contribute a blog post (only if they want to) now and again talking about how things are going, etc. Just so that the group website really is representative of the group and that everyone gets a chance to share their experience.

Role clarification gets the thumbs up from me. We have the four main groups down so far but I can't see where the blurring between marketing and design is occuring. Designing a website and designing the physical journal do need to be linked to a certain length, whereby there is some aesthetic connection between the style of each. Obviously, those with the greater talents in constructing websites on a professional level will have better insight to the practicality and overall function of how our site should work but collaboration with the journal design team is necessary too to ensure an match up of general style. I think there's going to be a lot of cross-collaboration between the different groups but with some clarification on Thursday we can prevent any of the necessary thresholds being blurred by misunderstandings. I definitely approve so far of the ideas presented for a website, blogs, twitter, and so on. Before going ahead with anything that might come to a waste of time for anyone (because we certainly don't want anyone's efforts wasted!), I think we need to clarify 100% the title, tagline, breadth of topic and form and from there with everything concise we can formulate a stylistic direction for the website and journal design

Do we have a website yet? Can I move this topic to the archive?

Think Kat and Edan are still working on it with a view to having it complete within the next week or so!

Hi everyone. As I mentioned before, I've added a heading about our team to the website - so far it's just a list of teams + names, but I think it'd be cool add something like this: forbookssake.net/contributors/Maybe we could say what we each tend to write (whether it's poetry, historical fiction etc) plus a few quirky details about ourselves - whether it's a snippet about when/why we started writing or about 'eating cheesecake' like in the example! Not pressing, but if everyone liked the idea and wanted to think up a few lines that would be great! Pictures are optional, but I'd definitely encourage everyone to submit a photograph as well - makes it seem more professional and personable.

I think that sounds like a good idea - a way of introducing ourselves and giving the website a personal touch.

Just wondering if it would be possible to tidy up the website a wee a bit I noticed some snags.
The 's' at the end of donations isn't included in the hyperlink. I think the navigation bar at the top of the page should remain on any page - navigation is made so much easier if this is possible. And I noticed a couple of people missing from the Team list - Kathy in Design and Jennifer as secretary.
I know that this sounds like nitpicking but it's these things that just make it look amateur hour.
[EDIT: Should maybe center the logo at the top of the blog too]

I've fixed Donations and apologies Kathy and Jennifer, you are now both added. Edan is going to add the navigation bar to each page. I recall trying to centre the Flux logo on the blog when I first made it, but the automatic layout made it impossible - I'll try again at another point, until then I think it looks fine!

I'm sure it's easily fixable , I'll have more time to fix little niggles like this after next week.
