Hi everyone!
I'd like to be the first to put myself forward for a role as part of the editorial team. It's hard to explain how I qualify for this role especially when everyone in the class is likely to have the same experience of proof-reading and editing their own and others' work but I have the extra experience of working in a library where a portion of my work involves proof-reading documents and essays. Due to this, I feel I'd be a really good addition to the team.
I had thought about applying for the role of Head Editor but now seeing that the role is somewhat different than I first expected, I'm a tad hesitant. I feel I could oversee the editorial team and maintain a good level of contact with all members of the team but being the chief of communications for other teams feels like it could be a bit of a stretch. Due to this, I'd like to put forward the idea of a 'contents editor' who could do both the job of maintaining communications between the groups and also, being the overseer of the overall content which is allowed into the journal. Quite hard to explain but each team would have a head member (head editor, head of the finance team, head of design team, etc) but there would be one person whose role was entirely outwith each team that could keep an overall eye on the development of the journal. Each head of the team would report through them. Possibly something that ties in with being Chair? Just an idea me and some others discussed over dinner that I thought should be mentioned.
So back to the main point, I'd love to join the editorial team on whatever level. I've got good language, grammar and punctuation skills (oh, how exciting!) and I can promise to give it my best.
Thanks for your time!
