i was maybe thinking "epoch"? or ( if it's not too cheesey sounding) "infinity"? i'm just trying to go for one-worded, "hard-hitting" titles that are obviously revelant to the theme x

I like epoch. A short, one worded title would have the most impact and pull people in the most I think, I also like "elapse".

I quite like elapse I was quickly brainstorming words related to clocks, and the sound they make and thought of how they strike the hour... and then came to "stricken" as a possible idea (I quite like that idea - it's a word that implies something that's taken your breath away, but is maybe a bit too removed from the theme). Also quite liked "resound" or "resounding" - as in the echoing sound of the bells (like the echoing of our words, eh? Deep, I know). Or "midnight" - just as a word related to time which has a sort of mysterious/magical quality to it. Anyway, will ponder on this some more while I'm serving fish and chips and icecream to customers.

Oh, also: unfoldings, passing, or transient/transience

I do like 'Tock' - it's snappy, and I think would make people want to pick up the book and read more. It's effective without giving too much away.

"Infinite" is an idea still rolling around in my brain, but "Tock" is growing on me. It's got a kind of double meaning

I had thought "Infinity" as well, haha!
I'm not sure if we should have such an obviously related to time word though.
Something like "Elapse" or "Strike" works because it's not dead obvious. I think it'd be good for people to not immediately know what our theme is.
I agree, one word titles are the best.

ohhh i like "elapse" too and i like your "resounding" idea, David - because we obviously want our journal to have some sort of lasting impact upon our readers . i feel like i'm contradicting myself here, because i said that i wanted a "hard-hitting" title, but i just feel like "tock" is just too stark-sounding =/ for me, personally!

I'm not really a fan of 'Tock' either, but of course, me being me, this in no way suggests that I can come up with something better!
I just don't feel it's the right title. I think it needs to be something which has several interpretations which can all relate to our writing. So I stand by my original perception that the title should come about AFTER reflecting on the pieces of writing that will feature in the journal, and indeed what they mean to us.

I did think of Pendulum- which is defined as 'Something that swings back and forth from one course, opinion, or condition to another', which would be relevant to the journal, and of course as it is a piece of a clock, ie time..... Shite I know, but just putting it out there!

I keep coming back to 'elapse' actually. I really like the sound of that word, and the meaning 'to slip past, to pass by' - kind of fits in with our idea of movement and 'time leaves no thing unchanged'.

Haha, Jenna, "resounding" was Melissa's idea! But I'm happy to take credit for it!

These are probably rubbish as well, but just ones I came up with while brainstorming (and making great use of a thesaurus) a wee while ago!
