Lucy says that ALL class members would need to agree to this though... I don't think we're going to be able to get everyone to send her an e-mail about it. Let's just power through. Can folk please send me their pieces amended after me and Dave's feedback please.
It's to be in for end of play on 14th. If me and Dave sort out the submissions on perhaps wed & thurs then we can have an InDesign day on Friday.
Melissa can you send me the link to InDesign so I can have a wee refresher with it? Is it a 30 day free trial or something?

Have you heard back from Lucy, Claire since this email. She seemed quite sympathetic when I emailed her so I think she would be okay will delaying it if most people say they don't mind.
Please can everyone post on here whether they mind getting their essays back two weeks later. We wait longer than that for exam marks. Just means I can spend more time on the layout and also finish my essays. Will be eternally grateful.
I can send you the link Claire. I really don't mind doing it though if we're allowed the extra time. I know you're busy too x

Also, I think if we are to have the draft in sooner we shouldn't footer about with InDesign. We should just send a PDF. Lucy said to me she wouldn't mind that.

Ok doke, should everyone just send Lucy an e-mail then?
Also, WE NEED EVERYONE'S SUBMISSIONS BACK AFTER AMENDMENTS OTHERWISE THE PAGES WILL BE EMPTY!!
(If you sent more than one story then I've not edited all of that folder yet but still... send us your submissions!!)
Also, art work? I'm sorry I didm't make the meeting to discuss it but we really do need to make tracks on this. Melissa, as head of design, I need your involvement here. If you send me your number I could call you for a chat about it? I don't mean to cut folk out the discussion but we need to make some decisions...

Hello, I think you can go ahead speak to him about the water-themed interior idea that you said earlier. I think that sounds more like the brief that we should go for. I think in my comment on the other board I said I was okay with that why do we need to make a decision right now, is my only question? (*Asked in a friendly tone of voice, not a cheeky one*) And okay, will try to get my story back to you later today.

Because once the class had agreed to me contacting him about doing art work for us I sent him an e-mail and he was keen but had other commissions to get through before he could start ours. Now he's ready to do ours and sent us a sample sketch based on our theme to get some feedback and was awaiting it. I didn't want to keep him waiting too long because he's giving us a really good price for what he's doing...
I also thought that if we had been InDesigning the interior at the moment then we would need the images... or at least an idea of the images so that other aspects of the design could be decided upon.
I'll ask him to do a sample with a water theme and I'll post it up here... xx

Ah okay, I see what you mean. Sounds good. If we're allowed the extra week then I'll start figuring out how to work InDesign. Did Lucy say when she'd get back to you about whether she's decided or not? Wonder if we should ask her if she could maybe send an email/myplace notification. Might be the best way to reach people.

One thing that came up is at the meeting is that in order to work out what will 'fit in' with the design of the journal we need to have an idea of what the front cover looks like.
And we discussed at the meeting what the class had agreed to - most remembered only having agreed to getting an estimate for illustrations not for actually commissioning him for the work. We needed the estimate for the fund application essentially. I think this has a lot to do with the first point, it's difficult to commission an artist to make illustrations to fit with the design without having an idea of what the front cover is going to look like etc.
But ultimately the decision rests with the design team and how they want to proceed.
