Haha i don't see what real harm it could do - like Michelle says some people might see it as a laugh, and may even be more inclined to contribute to the raffle as a result !

Goodness me, just looked at Maement's website and they have a post about raffle prizes!
They were giving away a mobile phone, a stay at the Hilton for two, and other stuff!
No wonder they churned through that money so fast.

Don't worry about it! They actually had money behind them rather than having to blag stuff.

true true I've been looking up buying raffle tickets etc. 5x1000 is £8.99 and I think getting a business stamp (£6.49) to stamp the back of all of them with our website details would be good too, if we're going to draw the raffle in one big go around the launch, won't need it if we're doing it at the events of course.

E-mailed round a few places (including Seventh Heaven ), but still to hear back from them. I have however managed to blag a nice black bag with the tag still on it, and a couple of jewellery sets that are still in their original boxes and have never been worn. These include a silver watch, bracelet, and necklace set, and a wee cheeky Rennie Mackintosh set which includes earrings, necklace and a watch . I also e-mailed my big cousin Pauline who said that she will drop off some raffle prizes to me soon not sure what these wil be but i gave her a list of the stuff we have managed to gather so far, so this should give her a rough idea of what kinds of things we are looking for .

Also i made a status on facebook asking if anybody has any christmas gifts that they don't want/ haven't used yet that they would be willing to donate lmao . I thought that that might be a good way to possibly get some stuff?

Haha i don't see what real harm it could do - like Michelle says some people might see it as a laugh, and may even be more inclined to contribute to the raffle as a result ! Right, I was reeling off the raffle prizes to Frankie and the guys at Broadcast, and obviously mentioned the strip passes - they basically said it's a bad idea, especially if we want to be seen as a published and 'credible' journal. Have to say I completely agree and with everything that is happening at the GUU just now (http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/education/sexism-at-glasgow-university-a-minority-of-idiots-or-an-ugly-tradition.20455764) , we don't want to end up in the paper (like The Journal etc) for the wrong reasons! Plus my ex-employers are coming and have hinted they'll donate a decent amount to us...doubt that will happen if we're giving out stripping passes for a laugh. So yeah, some of the prizes we've got so far are great, but totally against this one I'm afraid.
